Puppies are here!

Thank you everyone for praying.

Around 1:30, Joy had a sac starting to come out, and so for the next three hours, we sat and waited for labor to progress, and nothing happened. We were getting bored (thanks, Tyler for bringing books and a movie!!!) and finally, started to get worried.

Around 4:30, my mom and I decided we had waited long enough with no action, so we ran her to the emergency clinic. The vet X-rayed her and found that one puppy was blocking the birth canal. Think of it like a "Y." The two upper parts are the two uterine horns and they meet at the junction which goes into the birth canal. The puppy was stretched between the two horns sideways completely blocking the birth canal. We had two choices:
1. Everyone dies. Literally, mom and puppies all die.
2. Do a C-section (reaaallly expensive)

As you can guess, we decided to do the C-section. Everyone is healthy and good. We have four puppies - three boys and one girl (could have been the other way around since girls are better).

It was very emotional, stressful, and now we are on 24 hr watch...yes, through the night. So, I am exhausted....physically and emotionally.

Again, thanks for praying. I'll post pictures later.

  1. I'm glad everything turned out fine after the whole ordeal. It sounds like you had quite the day! What a blessing that all of the puppies are okay- as well as the mama.

I'll pray for a quick recovery for Joy and for you too! I hope you can get some good rest! May the Lord be your strength.

    I'm praying for you!

  2. Thank you so much! I'm a little better this morning, just really tired. We have one more litter coming, so I am sleeping in the kitchen on the sofa. And, the sofa is too short for me! So, when I can finally sleep in my own room again, it will be the best day of my life!!!!

I really appreciate you praying, and wish I could see you!
