  1. I like the pixelized photo your camera took.

  2. Thanks! It actually wasn't the camera so much...of course, the camera really helps :), but I edited it heavily in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. That is one awesome program.

I love my camera too, though!!

  3. Hi Lisa...coming over to your blog from Gabriel's :) Nice photo!

I thoughts I'd stop by, and was surprised to see the Cochran's blog top of your list! We've known the Cochran's for around 9-10 years now. It's a small world =)

  4. How funny!!! We knew the Cochrans when they used to live in AZ back about 12 years ago. Savannah and I were best friends. When they moved to OK, she and I kept in touch through letters. We haven't seen them since 1999, and then just a few weeks ago in September, my family and I got the opportunity to take a trip to OK and visit with them. It was awesome! We found ourselves closer than ever and more like-minded than when they lived here. God is so good!!!

  5. Amy, I just had a wonderful time looking at your blog. It is so, so encouraging to find fellow Christ-minded girls. Keep up the good work!

  6. How neat, Lisa! We didn't know the Cochrans until they had moved from AZ...though, I lived in AZ for several years of my early life =) Actually, my dad, brother & I are heading out there today to visit my grandmother. Anyway, I think we may be seeing the Cochrans in a couple weeks, which will be awesome. I'm glad you all had the opportunity to visit them recently.

Also, thank you so much for the encouraging comment about my blog!

    Blessings!

  7. What a small, small world! What part of AZ are you going to?

    Praying for a safe trip!

  8. We're going to Mesa, AZ. How far is that from you all? (Yes, I'm already thinking about how cool it would be if we were actually able to meet :). Thank you for your prayers!

    Amy

  9. That is about an hour east of us. We are on the far west side of Phoenix. It would be super cool if we could meet!

Gabe and his family live out by Mesa. How do you know them?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Maybe more like 45 minutes away from us....

  11. If you want to, Savannah posted pictures of our visit to them in September and some old pictures from about 12 years ago at this link http://thefamilycochran.blogspot.com/2011/12/visit-from-friends.html. She is so sweet!

  12. Only 45 minutes? In the scheme of things, that isn't too bad...considering we're generally 22 hours apart!

Haha. I barely know Gabriel at all, actually...I came across his blog about a week ago, through some comments he left on another friend's blog. Like I did with your blog, just thought I'd stop by and check out his ;) How do you know them?

  13. I just looked at Savannah's blog a few minutes ago, to see if perhaps she had posted pictures of your visit, and came across the post. Looks like you all had so much fun. Savannah is very sweet! Thanks for pointing that out.

(p.s. Feel free to shoot me an email (amy.faraboverubies@gmail.com) and we could carry on our conversation that way if it's easier :)

  14. I actually just got my own computer for Christmas and don't have an email yet :) Any ideas?

We know Gabe because his dad is the pastor of our sister church. They came out to AZ from Florida a while back with the purpose of starting a family-integrated church in the east valley. They are a special family!

How long will you all be in Arizona? Did you drive or fly here? Where do you go to church while you're here? Your whole family is not here, right? Too many questions? :)

    ReplyDelete
  15. Oh, that's fine =)

We actually haven't left home yet...we're leaving in about half an hour, and it will be about a 20 hour trip (we're driving--straight through). No, my whole family isn't coming. Originally my dad was going to fly out, but was unable to get the plane ticket he needed. So, on short notice, we changed plans and decided to drive. Only my dad, older brother, and I will be coming. If my Grandmother is doing okay, we'll stay until Tuesday morning (if things changed drastically worse, we might be staying a little longer.)

As far as where we'll go to church, I'm not sure on that yet; though, we'll surely be discussing that at some point. I was just asking Gabriel about his church and he gave me the website. Yeah, I've enjoyed discussing some things with him over the past couple days :)

No, not too many question! :) Feel free to ask anything you like.

  16. No, you can't go to Gabe's church!! You have to come to our church :) LOL

Our two churches are very, very similar. The Hudelson's church is
    http://legacybaptist.com/main/
    And our church is
    www.heritagebaptistaz.org

Their church would actually be much closer for you all.....but you should still come to ours :) I loved reading that you are into music. My sisters and I all play piano *a lot* and some play violin, viola, etc.

I will see if I can get a chance to email you from my mom's email later today. Maybe you all could come out to our place for a visit. Do you like animals? We have a lot! We have lots of horses, dogs, chickens, a cow, a goat....yeah. Will you have any extra time while you all are here?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Haha =) I like that! It would be fun to meet both your families, though. Thanks for the links, anyway.

Music is fun! How neat that you and your sisters play instruments. How many sisters do you have?

Hey, I'll finish this comment soon. I have go do a couple things...talk with you soon!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I only have two younger sisters. Yes, our family has definitely changed our convictions on that subject, but God hasn't sent any more children :(

Okay...we'll keep in touch. Will you have a computer with you on your trip? I'm off to start packing up my family's overabundance of Christmas decorations :)

    ReplyDelete
  19. To finish replying to your comment, I think my dad will be spending the majority of our trip visiting with his family. My brother and I will obviously be spending time with them, too, but not as much. Saturday and Monday are rather free for us at this point :)

Yes, I'll have my laptop with me on the trip, and Lord willing, will have internet most all the time, too. So, yep, we can keep in touch.

Have fun packing it all up ;)

  20. We have a HUGE parade with the minis on Saturday morning, but maybe in the afternoon...I'll check with my parents. Let me see...on Monday, we are going hiking with some friends. Maybe you could join us?!?!? One of the boys who will be going with us, David, is our "adopted" older brother, and great friends with Gabe. His blog is www.godscountryboy.blogspot.com.

It is so cool how quickly we can become friends because of the Holy Spirit in common!!

God bless your trip! Will you be driving straight? We drove straight to the Cochrans and it about killed us :) We had to sing the last few hours to stay awake!!

    ReplyDelete
  21. The common bond believers have in Christ is so awesome!

Yep, driving through to AZ. That will be an experience, but praying it will go well...especially as my brother worked 12 hours last night, so he's already running on pretty little sleep. We might be singing by the end of our trip, too!

    We'll stay in touch!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Ouch! Are you all three splitting the driving? Your poor brother...what does he do for work? Yes, singing is a great way to keep awake. We tried listening to audio books, sermons, and more, and nothing was working. We sang every song we knew, plus some we didn't know :) You can imagine....

    ReplyDelete
  23. Well we're on our way now...left about an hour ago. Yes, we are splitting up the driving between the three of us. Though, I don't have my drivers license yet, just my permit, so my dad has to be awake when I drive :)

Ah, yes. I can imagine. It seems like our family has done things like that in the past, as well.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Whoops forgot to answer one question--my brother is a night security guard at a retirement home.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I got my license just before our OK trip, and then never used it :) At one point, my mom asked if I wanted to drive and I said yes, but then she said, "You know, Lis, one mistake, and we're all dead." I didn't drive!

How funny about your brother...one of our really good friends worked as a night security guard on the golf courses.

  26. Mhmmm. I've had my permit for over two years, but am just now really driving at all because I was so scared to do it before. I pretty certain I'll be driving on this trip though.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I was the same way :) I got my permit right at 15 and 6 months, and then just kept renewing it. Now that I have my license, I really, really enjoy it. Driving gets easier and easier very quickly.

Where are you all coming from? I think I saw Kansas somewhere...maybe your blog.

  28. You said you are in college now, right? Were you homeschooled? Are you doing college online?

We went back and forth on college for me, and as of right now, I'm still at home. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I apologize for my delay in responding to you. We're in AZ now, but the Lord's plans for us were different from what he had anticipated...My grandma passed away last night, while we were on our way. This came as quite a shock...thankfully the Lord is in control of everything. As you can imagine, our plans are very up in the air now. I think the funeral will be either Tuesday or Wednesday.

My brother and I would still be delighted to get together with y'all somehow, if that would work out. You'd mentioned hiking on Monday? Obviously, we don't want to just invite ourselves into your plans, so...

Oh, and we're from Missouri. Sure, I'm happy to share my thoughts on college, etc. It just might take me a little while to write them out :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. Oh, I am so, so sorry. What a shock! At least you all can be here for the funeral. I will be praying for you and your family. Yes, it is so comforting to know God is in control. We have had an extremely rough year with our animals (lost our mini stud, and had our little Papillon get killed by our Lab) and the best comfort is knowing that it is all part of His plan.

Yes! We would love for you to come hiking with us. Do you all enjoy hiking? We live right at the base of the Whitetank Mountains and there is a beautiful trail that is about 3 miles one way with a pretty little spring at the end. I will email you more information on what we are doing.

I think it would be really interesting if we both (and maybe Savannah?) did posts on our opinion of a Biblical girl and a Biblical guy. Basically what Gabe did, but from our perspective. Would you be interested?
