“Never forget what Jesus did for you. Never take lightly what it cost Him. And never assume that if it cost Him His very life, that it won't also cost you yours.”

Pride And Prejudice - The Homeschooled Version

This is funny...it really, honestly is. I got a big kick out of it and thoroughly enjoyed it despite what I'm about to say.

Go see for yourself! http://www.rachelcoker.com/a-truth-universally-acknowledged/

However, as humorous as that was, it's something I believe we need to seriously take into consideration. Girls, do we sometimes act like little Mrs. Bennet's? Okay, maybe not to her extreme, but in our hearts, it's the same thing.

We need to think of our brothers in Christ as, well, just that...brothers. NOT potential spouses. Keeping the eternal perspective is so important because only when we see things in light of eternity can we really understand how life works.

Keep your eyes on Him and furthering His kingdom!

  1. Thanks so much for this Lisa, it's something I often need to be reminded of (and it grates me very much to admit it, you know me. :P). It's so freeing to see every guy as an eternal family member, and nothing more, and I'd like to get to the stage where that's all I see. :) Love you girl! Thankyou for always notching up the bar. xox

    1. Ugh we are so similar!! This is SO one of those things that I detest admitting I am guilty of, so I know exactly what you mean :)

It is very freeing, but it can also be very hard to get there.....depending on how much (or how little) thought-control we've done in the past.

      Love you, too!! ♥

  2. Lisa, this was so good and soooooo convicting! As a mom of young men, I confess- guilty as charged! I may not be as manipulating or so I think *grin* but I definitely think of potential spouses for my sons. I may not say these thoughts out loud but there is definitely a thought process going on of approval versus disapproval. Did I just confess that out loud? Yes, and this is why I share...as a mom I want my sons to have a wife that truly loves God with all her heart. Yet, I am see that this needs to be committed to prayer and not manipulation. God is able. I love the chapel where the older saints are engaging in suggestions for our sons! My young men grin, and avoid it at all costs. haha! However, It is because those older saints care and they want the best for them. it is very sweet. Yet, as a mom, I stand encouraged and rebuked by this post. Seeking the Lord to help me see all *potential* young ladies as sisters, and in our eternal family. Thanks for being courageous and sharing!

    1. You're very welcome....this is something I have to constantly remind myself of, too. Most often, the things I post on my blog are things that I'm preaching to ME about!! :D

Glad this encouraged you!! Love you bunches :)

    2. I am right there with you! The things that I share are most likely speaking right to me :-))) Harold Vaughn told us once that the messages that God gives him are usually for him first. He figures if he needs it, there are others that need it too. To me, this is the beauty of sharing what God is doing in our lives......it is iron sharpening iron. I cannot tell you how often God uses things he is teaching others to speak to me, to encourage me, edify me,convict me, and cause me to search the scriptures. The beauty of the Body of Christ........
